2a: Focus on Learning and Teaching, Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
The principal/assistant principal leads the discussion about standards for curriculum, instruction and assessment based on research and best practices in order to establish and achieve high expectations for students.
The form below has been used by teachers after each benchmark to analyze data and develop Corrective Instruction Action Plans.
Teachers were provided time and space to deeply analyze Benchmark #2 data by using Focused Intervention Funds to pay for substitute teachers. They used the agenda below.

The principal/assistant principal creates processes and schedules which protect teachers from disruption of instructional or preparation time.
Master Schedule
Most teachers have collaborative planning time built into the school day. They meet with department PLCs during their planning periods once per week.
The Opportunity Culture Design Team from the 2017-2018 school year designed a master schedule that required two teachers to teach very large classes. After reviewing assessment and observational data, the Instructional Leadership Team and I collaborated to develop a new schedule so that our math classes would be smaller. The original and new master schedules can be found by clicking on the button below.
